Girls play a notable role in bringing equilibrium, resilience, and advancement to society. There is nothing in this world girls cannot achieve. Girls are no lesser than boys.
Girls have always proved mettle in every field
History has multiple examples of strong and persuasive girls.
- Rani of Jhansi- Manikarnika
- Gangubai kathiawadi- she was sold by her lover to a brothel, but she didn’t lose hope and worked for the betterment of girls who were trapped in prostitution back then.
- Bhavna Kanth– The first fighter pilot of India
- Hima das is also known as dhing express
- Mithali Raj also called the lady Tendulkar and the list goes on…
Still There are areas where girls are still subjected to discrimination.
Either they are killed in the fetal stage only, or if they are fortunate enough to enter this world, they are withheld basic privileges like the right to education, and the right to liberty. They are subjected to domestic turmoil and sometimes they are even sold to work in brothels.
Here are some statistics
➡66 million girls around the world are out of school!
➡ In social media, movies, and advertisements girls are objectified, and their worth is restricted to bodily appearance only.
➡An estimated 650 million women alive today were married as children.
There is aways a silver lining!
But where there is darkness, a small glint of light illuminates the entire space. Government and many nongovernmental associations have started many campaigns and policies to assist girls.
One of the latest steps taken by the government is permitting girls to enter the Indian army via the NDA exam which earlier was open for boys only.
List of NGO’s working for Empowerment of Girls
Some of the non-governmental organizations are as follows
- Ishita Sharma Foundation (MukkaMaar)
This organization was ascertained in 2018 to teach self-defense to underprivileged girls. - K.C. Mahindra Education Trust (Nanhi Kali) since 1953 this organization has funded education for underprivileged girls.
- Ibtada
This organization has helped the women and children of the Anwar district of Rajasthan to become self-sufficient by helping them run several businesses and self-help groups. - Dera Sacha Sauda
The contribution of Dera Sacha Sauda in empowering girls is applaudable.
➡ Shahi Betiyaan Basera.
Girls who were abandoned by their parents, or the girls who were fated to be killed in the uterus only were rescued by Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan, they were not only liberated but were adopted by Saint Dr MSG and they were furnished with quality education & quality lifestyle.
➡Kul ka crown
One of the explanations a girl child is not greatly accepted in this world is the perspective of people who think that only a boy can carry the ancestry forward. Saint Dr. MSG demolished d this belief and encouraged Kul ka crown scheme under which it is not the girl( the single child of their parents, or the parents only having daughters) who leaves her house after marriage but it’s the boy who does so.
The lineage of girl is carried forwards.
➡ Saint Dr. MSG has always encouraged girls in every field, and as a result, many girls from Shah Satnam Ji educational institutions have achieved innumerable milestones not only in the field of education but also in the field of Sports.
➡ The Shubhdevi
Unfortunately, even in today’s modernized world, some girls are sold by their parents to brothels for a few pennies. Saint Dr MSG rescued those girls too and gave them the name of Shubhdevi and helped them get married in decent households. What can you do ? Girls are no less than boys. On this International Day Of Girl Child, lets try and do the least that we can do for the underprivileged girls. - You can visit them and teach them about basic menstrual hygiene, and provide them with sanitary napkins.
- You can fund education for alteast one of the underprivileged girls.
- You can visit their parents and teach them about the ill effect of making them marry early.
Conclusion
As Elenor Roosevelt once said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
It’s time for girls to realize they aren’t weak, fragile, and delicate but they are as obstinate as Razia Sultan, as inflexible as Gulab Kaur, they are as valorous as Manikarnika ( The Queen of Jhansi), and they are as furious as Miriam was.
