Teacher’s day – History
The Teacher’s Day is celebrated on 5th of September to mark the birth anniversary of a renowned scholar, philosopher & an exemplary teacher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was the first vice- president and the second president of India.He also received the Bharat Ratna(country’s highest civilian award) posthumously.
It all started when one day the students asked Dr. Radhakrishnan to celebrate his birthday but he asked them to celebrate this day as a tribute to all the teachers who put their contribution in the society & nation building. Since that day in 1962, teacher’s day is being celebrated on 5th September in India; however it is celebrated in the world on 5th October.
Significance of the day
The Teacher’s day is an occasion which celebrates the relationship between a Teacher and a Student. The day signifies the appreciations and credentials to the efforts of all the teachers and the educators who provide the great educated personalities to the nation. Undoubtedly, teaching is the noblest profession of all. A teacher is like a second mother to the child. He is the one who shapes the life of a child and spread wisdom and knowledge. He not only teaches the text books to the children but also the right way of social adaptation, manners and moral values as well as polishes their personality. The teachers like Dr. Radhakrishnan become the role models for the children and the society. Thus, it’s the day that recognizes and acknowledges the importance of teachers in societal and national development.

The theme of 2021 Teacher’s day is “Teachers: Leading in crisis, re-imagining the future”.
This theme is presented in the context that even in times of the crisis, how the teachers put their diligent and determined efforts towards providing the education.
Celebrations
The Teacher’s day is celebrated in all the schools and colleges all over the India on 5th September. There are different ways to celebrate this occasion. Students show their gratitude to teachers by making the handmade greeting cards or giving them small gifts or flowers. Moreover, different functions are organised in schools and colleges such as singing & dance performances, mimicry of teachers, poem recitation, playing different games along with teachers and saying them thanks for their true teachings. The organisations award the teachers for their meritorious performances. Hence, it is an occasion of celebrating and enjoying the special bond between the student and the teacher.
Teacher’s day 2021- Shiksha Parv 7- 17 September
The Ministry Of Education (MoE) of India has decided to celebrate this teacher’s day from September 7-17 as an endeavour to strengthen the National Education Policy 2020. During this 10 days event, the govt. will launch 5 initiatives. The National Award Ceremony will be organised where the president of India will be awarding 44 awards to the glorious teachers.

No doubt, Saint Dr. MSG is an exceptionally talented personality. HE is a director, writer, producer, singer and a movie maker. ‘Jattu Engineer’ is a movie produced by Guruji himself. The movie shows the importance of a well educated, wise and a creative teacher who can change the whole image and structure of a village through education.
Jattu Engineer movie is based on the problems of a small town where there is a control of cruel and wicked administration; people are unprivileged from the education, the village is dirty with no proper system for garbage dumping and sewage. But Saint Dr. MSG in the role of a well educated teacher changes the whole unsystematic way of village into an organised and systematic manner with the use of creativity and technology. It is family movie entertaining as well as with the message depicting the importance of education, knowledge and the importance of a teacher in the life.
