National Sports Day: A tribute to Major Dhyan Chand
Widely known as ‘Wizard of Hockey’, Major Dhyan Chand Singh was part of the three-time Olympic gold medalist Indian Hockey Team. He is the greatest player in the history of Indian hockey. National Sports Day is celebrated all over the country to pay tribute to Major Dhyan Chand. On this day, important awards are bestowed to prominent sports personalities, including the Arjuna Awards, Khel Ratna Awards, Dronacharya Awards, and Dhyan Chand Awards.

Every time they clear a hurdle or kick a ball, they defy the misperception that they are weak and tear down gender barriers and discrimination. Women in sports not only demonstrate physical strength but also show their leadership and strategic intellect.
Recently, in Tokyo Olympics, women like Mirabai Chanu, PV Sindhu have proved their mettle. Many girls and women have brought laurels to the country. Many today hold an honorable position in various government departments after proving their potentials in various sports.
Similarly, the Sports Authority of India appointed Gurpreet Kaur Insan from Haryana as the coach of the Indian Javelin Throw team for World Junior Athletics Championships that held in Kenya. Gurpreet Kaur Insan is an excellent athlete. Under her training, The Indian team won 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
Thousands of medalists given to the country
Gurpreet Kaur Insan dedicates all her achievements to the Shah Satnam Ji Group of Institutions. Since its establishment, this prestigious institution has given the country some of the finest sportspersons who have bagged thousands of medals for the nation.
The Indian women’s handball team captain is also from the Shah Satnam Ji Group of Institutions. Five players from these institutes have got Haryana’s biggest sports award ‘Bhima Award’. The Roller Skating Hockey team (Girls) played 7 times in Asian games out which got four times gold medal, three times silver, and one-time bronze. Boys students have won more than 100 International Medals in Judo, Swimming, Kabbadi, Yoga, cricket, football. Teams from these institutes are two times World Champion in Throw Ball. Here students are winners of World cups in Yoga and bagged about 40 gold medals.

Moreover, a multipurpose hall is created for sports like badminton, volleyball, yoga and archery.
Apart from this, there is an all-purpose pool wherein swimming, water polo, etc. can be played. A sports track of 400 meters (standard track) has been made. A big judo hall has also been constructed.
Discovering and polishing the young talents from remote areas
India has the largest pool of human talent but there is a need to discover and polish youngsters so that they can shine in the world.
