Dusshera- The Victory of Truthfulness

India is the country which is known for its great culture and the diversity in its culture makes adds beauty to this greatness. There are various festivals celebrated by Indian people to commemorate the amazing tales of its greatness. Each festival has its own reason of existence and methods of celebrating these festivals hold a great importance too. Dusshera is one of the major festivals celebrated with galore. It is certainly known for the victory of truth over the evils. Therefore, It is believed that when the burden of sins and oppressions pressurizes the goodness and humanity of the universe, the supreme sends a messenger to vanish the fogginess of all the evil powers and to save the dying humanity. This festival symbolises that good always wins over evil. The festival relays the mesaage for all of us to vanish the inner demons of evils inside us and to rise our souls towards the righteousness.

Significance of Dusshera

Dusshera also known as Vijay Dashmi is celebrated every year after concluding the nine Navratam of Durga Poojan (Worship of Goddess Durga) . On this day Shri Ram Chandra vanquished the rival against Lankapati (King of Lanka) Ravana with His divine powers. Lord Rama incarnated on the earth to end the evils prevailing on that time.

Ravana, who abducted Devi Sita( Wife of Lord Rama), was punished by Lord himself. The significance of this great festival manifests that wickedness always get punishment, no matters it is done by a common man or a king.

This holy day marks another victory of morality over the immorality. On this day, Goddess Durga marmalized the Mahishasura along with his evil troops. After worshiping Goddess Durga for nine days in Navratri Festivity, people admire the valour of Maa Durga on the day of Vijay Dashmi. Additionally, it symbolises the power and greatness of nobility.

About Ravana

According to Hindu mythology, Ravana, the king of Lanka, was considered to be the most powerful man of that time. He was actually the king of demons who had immense supernatural powers. Ravana attained all the control in his hands by devoting to the gods and goddesses. Even sun and moon would rise and set with his will. He was a great scientist of that time. It is believed that he had acquired many intellectual abilities with spiritual awakenings. Ravana used to fly in his own flying machine which he made by using his powers. He had a great knowledge of Vedas and an expert commentator of all the four Vedas of Hinduism. He was a great politician and a leader who used to lead his vast demon army. Despite such good qualities and powers, it was his  egoism that made him overconfident about his wisdom. Being egoistic and the ensurance of being immortal, he had made the biggest mistake of his life, the abduction of Mata Sita which he had to pay for.

Right Way To Celebrate Dusshera

Festivals come with lot of happiness and excitement of great joys. These joys can be doubled if we celebrate these by bringing smiles on sad faces. Let us Add up some more cheers in happiness by making others’ life better. This can be done by taking a step towards welfare. Let us step forward for Welfare of those who are unable to earn and learn, welfare of those who are roaming on streets without a shelter and  those who are mentally retarded and aparted from their homes. We should pledge to make their  life better. Let us spend some moments in making a good collection of blessings and showering some kindness towards such people.

Make Celebration as a Direction

Celebrate this Dusshera with your family by doing good deeds and in a healthy way. Some people drink alcohol on this day which is absolutely disgusting. In spite of this, one should take pledge to come forward and appreciate the works of humanity. For example blood donation, ration distribution, tree plantation. One should take pledge to serve humanity whole life and after the life too. Yes, it is absolutely possible, we can serve mankind even after death if we pledge today to claim our precious eyes, organs or full body for posthumous donation. This would be a great work of humanity and will make your and your parents’ name shine forever.
