Being Thankful is great for mental health.

In the whirlwind of our daily lives, we tend to get easily stressed and worried. But if we adopt an attitude of gratitude, it acts as an antibody to these worries. According to the researchers, grateful people tend to be more healthy and happy. They cope better with adversity; they exhibit lower levels of stress and depression and eventually sleep better. Such people tend to be more satisfied with life and attract people in their surroundings with their positive attitude. Their positivity attracts more positivity into their lives leading to increased happiness. There are enough evidences to support the fact that being thankful opens up more channels for happiness in our lives.

Struggles are Opportunities in disguise

Often people in jobs complain about the stress, long hours and office conundrum. Many start feeling depressed in their work life. In such times, one needs to remember that not every struggle is there to bring you down; some struggles come into our lives to provide us a chance for introspection, to look inside of us and to emerge as better person. No matter how you think it is, one is lucky to have opportunities. There are many people who would love to swap places with you just so that they can feed their families. In times like these, it becomes imperative to feel a sense of gratitude for every struggle that has brought opportunities to you. Also, it is vital that you hold true to your principals and work with integrity.

If you are struggling, just flip the coin.

The question people ask is, how can someone be grateful in hard times? When dreams fail or your plans don’t push through, how can anyone be thankful? Our emotions at such times do not let us see the positive side. But try to flip the coin and see how you can make the best of the situation. For eg., the pandemic led to boom of online education businesses, digitalization of processes, youtube businesses, etc. Many freelance writers enjoyed the increased business and work opportunities. In a way, it forced us to nurture our talents. If anything, it has taught us that there is always a silver lining in the cloud. So when you think that the times are tough, you become tougher, think of the best you have to offer, and you will find a way to move forward. So when the times are pushing you down a bit, rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Take a moment to appreciate your blessings.

It is easy to overlook the blessings in our lives when everything is going well. Whenever a mishap occurs, we get stressed, pray to God, look for solutions and things get settled. We thank God for some time but gradually forget His benevolence with each passing day, eventually criticizing Him for wishes that were not granted.

Similarly we tend to take important things of life like our health, our parents, our family, and our relationships, for granted and get entangled in the mundane irrational worries like traffic jams and irritating colleagues.

We need to remember that we are indeed blessed to have this life which presents us with innumerable opportunities, our relations and health, which help us live happily. Everyone has something to be grateful for. Remember, criticism is easier while appreciation is difficult. So take out a moment to count your blessings.

A visit to a hospital or homes for homeless will provide you a perspective shift and you will realize that you have been blessed indeed with your life and health. Also, if you have had sufficient food, clothes, and basic necessities to live through during the pandemic, you must feel thankful for the good fortune.

Work on yourself and be grateful for your potentials.

Every human being has an immense treasure of capabilities and potentials. While some know about their capabilities and use them, rest of us must continue to explore and work upon ourselves till we build our potential.

Most people develop egoism about their talents that leads them to the path of devastation. Egoism is a mask that does not let us discover more about life or about us. Those who are grateful for their potentials always improve themselves better and discover the bliss of life.

Don’t forget to smell the roses

Life is made up of every single moment that we are blessed with; let’s not forget to soak in the bliss of life. While working towards your goals, take out the moments to observe the beauty of nature, enjoy the sunrise and the sunset, the clouds and the rains, the mighty mountains, the white snow, the beautiful flowers, the gushing rivers, deep oceans, and everything that the nature has to offer. Let us be grateful for our every breath on this lovely planet.

Special are those who get a true mentor

Many people wander their whole life in search of knowledge and a true guide. Only rare ones get to meet their true guide. A true mentor always guides towards the light of knowledge and removes the darkness of ignorance. This mentor can be your parent, teacher, or a true spiritual Guru. If you have someone as a true mentor in your life who imparts you knowledge, you should be extremely grateful to him.

Conclusion

Gratitude is the open heart recognition for the things we possess. So let us start counting our blessings because there are so many to be thankful for!
