Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti

On April 14, Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti is observed to honour the memory of Indian politician and social reformer B. R. Ambedkar. Today is the birthday of Dr. Ambedkar, who was born on April 14, 1891. Since 2015 it has been commemorated as a public holiday in India. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated not just in India but all World celebrated this day.Several people in India also refer to his birthday as “Equality Day.”

Bharat Ratan Awardy Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is also referred to as Babasaheb or Dr. Ambedkar. According to India’s Ministry of Social Justice, he was a premier scholar, social reformer, and lawyer of the world’s elite. The Indian Constitution was mostly designed by him. To honour his numerous contributions to the creation of independent India today, his birth day is commemorated as Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti on April 14. Let’s honour this outstanding Indian scholar who helped millions of members of India’s Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes by laying the foundation for their advancement.

How is Ambedkar Jayanti celebrated in India?

In Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai and Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur, his devotees participate in the Ambedkar Jayanti parade. Senior political figures, including the President, the Prime Minister, and the chairmen of the largest political parties, have a custom of visiting Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue in New Delhi’s Indian Parliament to pay respects. The Dalits, Adivasis, labourers, women, as well as those who accepted Buddhism in response to his example, commemorate it all over the world. In India, a great deal of celebration is made when local Ambedkar sculptures are visited by large crowds.
The Dalit movement was inspired by Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, an Indian politician, economist, lawyer, and social reformer who fought against societal injustice against untouchables (also known as Dalits).

Ambedkar’s life

◆ On April 14, 1891, Ambedkar was born.

◆ All of his life, he fought for equality. As a result, his birthday is also known as “Equality Day.” India has requested to the United Nations that his birthday be observed as International Equality Day.

◆ He also known by the name Babasaheb Ambedkar.

◆ He became a Buddhist in 1956.

◆ He and Madan Mohan Malaviya forged the Poona Accord in 1932. Gandhi’s signature was added by Malaviya. The agreement stipulated that classes with low enrollment would have reserved seats. The agreement meant that instead of seventy one seats, the disadvantaged classes were given one hundred and forty-eight seats.

◆ Independent Labour Party was established by Ambedkar in 1936.

◆ He produced a book titled “Thoughts on Pakistan” following the Lahore Resolution in 1940. Pakistan as a concept was examined in the book.

◆ Ambedkar wrote about the untouchables in his second book, “Who were the Shudras?”

◆ The Constituent Assembly’s Drafting Committee was presided over by Ambedkar.

Tributes

◆ Ambedkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1990.

In 1990, the Central Hall of Parliament saw the unveiling of his portrait.

◆ It was designated “Year of Social Justice” from April 14, 1990, to April 14, 1991.

◆ To commemorate his 125th birthday, the Indian government released coins worth 10 and 125 rupees in 2015.

◆ For three years in a row, in 2016, 2017, and 2018, the UN observed Ambedkar Jayanti.

◆ Canada made the decision to designate Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Day of Equity for his birthday in 2020.

◆ His birthday will henceforth be recognised as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Equality Day by the government of British Columbia starting in 2021.
